graphic notation
graphic notation is a type of open and suggestive musical writing, in which images do not necessarily correspond to specific sounds, gestures, or musical concepts, but can be interpreted musically based on a free (or semi-prescribed) parameterization of visual elements
Below is an example (animated in gif format) of a graphic score from the ‘oppop’ series. In this series, in the printed booklet versions, each page represents a moment in the musical discourse. The pages can be interpreted sonically or enjoyed as visual music (as in the gif below).
